Ohio Bar Title Insurance Company (OBT) is the largest domestic title company in the State of Ohio. The Company traces its roots back to 1955 when operations began in Dayton. Since then, the headquarters have moved to Columbus (1986) and operations have expanded into Kentucky and Indiana.

In March of 1999, OBT was acquired by The First American Corporation, Santa Ana, California. Although owned by a parent company, we continue to operate as Ohio Bar Title and continue to deliver outstanding underwriting and marketing services to our agents, who are primarily Ohio attorneys. Under the First American umbrella, our agents enjoy the best of both worlds--the strength and resources of the nation's largest title underwriter as well as the niche services that only OBT, as an Ohio-based underwriter, can provide.

We are proud of our reputation as a solid, highly-regarded underwriter, and the only one with the distinction of being closely connected to Ohio's legal community. Part of that reputation stems from our financial stability ratings and strong market share.

Today, the Company serves approximately 400 agencies and 500 individual agents in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

"ACS Title and Closing Services" (ACS) is a limited trademark of Ohio Bar Title (OBT), and is designed for the agency that wants the support of a solid franchise name. ACS is an Ohio corporation and a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBT. It began operations in 1986 and today serves 15 title offices in the state of Ohio. Each office is independently owned and operated by licensed title attorneys and agents.

ACS represents an exciting concept in real estate settlement and escrow services--statewide operations that ensure uniform procedures and consistently high-quality work by trained title professionals. Knowing that closing/escrow processes require a skillful blend of complicated functions, lenders and realtors ask for ACS by name.

Agents of ACS issue OBT title insurance policies and forms to the exclusion of all other title underwriters. In return, no other agent is permitted to use the designated ACS agency name or operate their ACS office within a certain distance from an existing ACS office. The agent is granted a license to use the name, logo, signage, letterheads, materials publications, service marks, trademarks and the trade name "ACS Title and Closing Services," business forms, promotional materials, advertising and benefits supplied by OBT and ACS.
